How Often Should You Get a Massage?

Blossoms Massage Spa, Kilimani, Nairobi

There's no single right answer — it depends on why you're getting massaged in the first place. Here's how our therapists generally guide clients, broken down by goal.

For general stress relief

Once every 4–6 weeks is a reasonable rhythm for most people. It's frequent enough to notice a cumulative benefit without becoming a major time or budget commitment.

Suggested: Swedish Massage or Aromatherapy, monthly

For chronic tension or pain

If you're dealing with ongoing tightness — a stiff lower back, tension headaches, shoulder knots from desk work — more frequent sessions early on make a real difference. A common pattern is weekly or biweekly sessions for 4–6 weeks, then tapering to monthly maintenance once things improve.

Suggested: Deep Tissue Massage, weekly to biweekly initially

For active recovery

If you train regularly or stay on your feet all day, massage works best as part of a routine rather than an occasional treat — every 2–3 weeks helps keep muscles from accumulating tightness in the first place.

For a one-off reset

Sometimes you just need a single good session — before a big event, after a stressful stretch, or as a gift for someone else. That's completely fine too. Not every massage needs to be part of a plan.

Signs you might be overdue

If you're unsure where you fall, mention your goals when you book — our therapists can suggest a treatment and a rough frequency based on what you're dealing with.
